Summer Signs

Doesn't it seem that as a society, we rank summer as the season to beat? It seems to be the season everyone can agree on and enjoy, in one way or another (just don’t ask me about the heat, or bugs). The season’s big three signs - Cancer, Leo and Virgo - are popular, too, with Leo being the literal shining sun of the zodiac. 

To continue our series started in Spring, I wanted to provide some design ideas and colour selections if you’re looking for a change this summer. Each sign of the summer is broken down below. Remember, these designs are applicable even if your sun sign isn’t one of these below; your Venus, Rising or Moon signs will definitely influence what you’re drawn to! CANCER

Cancers welcome us to summer, which is perfect, as this is a water sign and what do we often equate with summer? Bodies of water - pools, beaches, lakes. Cancer is misty, watercolor childhood memories of car rides down the shore every year or visiting your cousin’s lakehouse. That said, Cancer is likely to stay comfortable this season and crank on the AC so they can sleep. This calls for plush seating and silky sheets! Cancer, representative of water and the moon, calls for blue tones and light neutrals, so I found some gorgeous shades from Little Greene Paint that exemplify not just Cancer but where we are this season and in 2024.

LEO

For our star of the summer, “the entire month is my birthday”, dress-to-impress Leos, I focused on some of our favourite activities. Lounging, partying, and looking good. Rounding out the Leo selections are some fabulous, bold plates for our birthday party, a standout and luxe sun lounger for epic poolside ennui, and a fancy pair of shades to keep the UV off our eyes. Warm tones - yellows, oranges, reds, golds - are what Leo is all about, so I’ve selected some oranges and warm neutrals for the season. These are colours you’ll see elsewhere in fashion and design this year so you’ll always be thinking about us Leos!

VIRGO

And we cannot forget about Virgo, holding it down for the end of the season. Our air sign Virgo friends may have a perfectionistic reputation but in fact, they’re just specific and prepared, darling. You’ll be the one wishing you had thought to bring an umbrella and a cooler big enough for your drink of choice. Virgos have worked hard for that drink, honey, and will enjoy it in style as they feel the beach breeze upon their skin. Clean, crisp and neutral tones often appeal to Virgos, so I’ve selected some on-trend and airy tones for this year’s colour selections.
