CELEB ROOMS REVISITED PT 1: HARRY STYLES

As a designer, I'm always looking for new ways to envision a space, generate ideas, and supply clients with clear images of the designs I create. This week, we're beginning a discussion on how AI can assist with that.

If I'm incredibly honest, I'm very reticent to use AI. Despite being a millennial, I'm not big on tech, and I'm not the kind of person who jumps onto every new idea or bandwagon (I much prefer to let ya'll test it first!). But after speaking with my constant collaborators at Rocket Digital, who fully embrace all new tech, I was convinced at giving it a shot. From where I stand, I see a program like Midjourney and realise it can take what I input and either breathe my design to life or even generate an option I didn't think of.

In comes Harry's pad - my first celebrity vignette. It's wacky, colourful, and uniquely him, so it was the perfect vignette to start with. Off the bat, did it capture what I created? No. Definitely not. But I'll admit it captured the essence - the playfulness, the colour, the avant-garde furniture (to an extent). The best image captured options I didn't quite think of and would be happy to consider. I love the rug, even though it's completely different from what I picked. The lighting wasn't anywhere close to what I had sourced but it definitely works. I love the arched multi-coloured art in the centre of the shot.

Don't look too close, though, as the images aren't really meant for scrutiny. For example, what are those under the side tables; vases? What's the blobby blue thing at the far left? I guess it could be a cool shelving unit. And maybe those are vases, waiting for flowers or grasses. It definitely helps get the mind going, at any rate!

I enjoyed the process enough that I have two more rooms to show you in the coming days and weeks. To be honest, it really only got better from here. Stay tuned!
