In contrast to our last celeb, we decided to highlight a pioneer of 20th century entertainment, a household name, a beloved figure: Lucille Ball! Born August 6, 1911, it should be no surprise that Lucille was a Leo. But don’t forget this fabulous woman was a serious businesswoman who owned her own production company, and despite her onscreen persona was often no-nonsense! Makes sense, considering she had her Ascendant and Moon in Capricorn! With this in mind, we envisioned Lucille ensconced in a large corner office. Her Leo sun has her gravitate to the finer things, and her Capricorn moon & rising insisting they’re also practical and useful. Aside from trophies and family photos you won’t find many tchotchkes here - only what she needs to shine and reach her goals.
To give ourselves a bit of a challenge, this vignette was designed as if Lucille was here today, mixing modern pieces alongside pieces from the era she lived in, all while relating to her chart. Keeping in line with mid-century design and her Capricorn placements, the overall palette of this vignette incorporates mostly browns and tans. Warmer tones, brass elements, the radiant rug, and luxurious marble nod to Lucille’s Leo sun. Despite her girl-boss Capricorn nature, Lucille was an elegant, feminine star - a mother, wife, and provider. To ensure her office reflected her and not Don Draper, much of the furniture has soft lines or curvilinear forms. This honors her as a feminine power, the placements seen in her chart, and is truthful to the mid-century aesthetic.
I don’t know about you, but looking at this room I can just imagine she’ll come through the door any second, light a cigarette, and make some moves!
